Say YES with Story of MumYes.

Such a powerful word.

I had my first Yes Day with the kids this week – I’ll write more about that on the blog soon...

For now, I'll just say that it was a magical (and exhausting) day, where I tried to say yes to whatever they requested - subject to some financial, geographical and cough-related restrictions!

They chose a day at the local theme park, which ate up most of my budget.

But, rather brilliantly, they actually got the most enjoyment from the simple (and free) things like the hilarious trick of asking mum if they could go up and down the escalator again?

"YES of course" (... and it turned out they could do that A LOT)

I had so much fun allowing them to really think about what they most wanted to do, see, touch, play, eat and explore for A WHOLE DAY, that it gave me another thought....

How would it feel to give myself a Yes Day?

Say YES with Story of MumA whole day when I tuned into what I wanted, and gave myself permission to do it all..

If letting the kids have a yes day had sounded scary… well, just asking myself the question “what would I choose to do if I knew the answer would be Yes…?” gave me goosebumps.

Which usually means: do it.

So I’ll be trying my very own Yes Day some time soon, and I'll let you know how I get on.

If you’d like to join me in having a go, I’d LOVE that - just let me know and we can have a go together.

All this yes-ness reminded me of this post I wrote almost two years ago: The Joy of Yes. My kids are still teaching me... (it also includes possibly the cutest photo I have of my gorgeous girl...)

And since we're in a big fat yes kind of mood, guess what - this month’s activity is also themed around saying YES!

Say YES with Story of MumOh yes. Yes. Yes. YES.

I give you, The YES VEST ;)

This lovely vest of joy is inspired by a number of Yes-related delights:

-- my favourite necklace made by Stuff Made From Things  (exciting news about this below)

-- a lovely free e-course run by Liz Lamoreux called Yes to this Moment

-- my Yes Day with my kids – we did all of these things and more...

-- my teenage years growing up in the 80s when people wore T-shirts that started FRANKIE SAYS, and RELAX, and posed looking moody. Feel free to do that too.

Ready to make your own?

Doodle a picture of your very own Yes Vest: spell out a big bold black and white YES to the things you want more of in your life.

Is there anything that makes you do an actual real fist-pump or that thing when you jump in the air and click your heels together at the side…? What brings you joy?

Stick it on your vest…

Share it over on the website, or join our next #somum Make Date on Wednesday 8 April from 8.30 to 10pm UK time.

Inspiring revitalising Mamas' Retreats...

Very exciting news! We’ve announced our first individual and small group Mamas’ Retreats at a stunning location in Cornwall in May.

Choose from a NURTURE day retreat, NURTURE AND NOURISH overnight retreat, or NURTURE, NOURISH & NEST for the ultimate in pampering. All the info is here.

This is a very special chance to shape your own perfect retreat by the sea – space to be nurtured, hear yourself think, and reconnect with who you are and what you dream of.

These are the only retreats that we plan to offer in this way in 2015, with limited places, so let us know as soon as possible if you’d like to come.

If you can't get to Cornwall, we're about to launch a very special virtual retreat too. NURTURE AT HOME: let us host a tailor-made mamas' retreat for you online. We'll share more info about this as soon as it's ready to go!

A last heads-up: our next Sunday Morning Mamas’ Retreat will be on 5 July in Penzance, so drop us an email if you’d like us to reserve you a slot for that - it’s already half full.

Whichever way works best, we would love to see you, taking vital time to nurture YOU.

Because you really do deserve it.

Say YES to looking after you, mama.
