On Wednesday 9 May from 8.30pm– 9.30pm BST, we’re holding a twitter doodle party. A #somum twidoodle party. (Check the time in your timezone here). You can win chocolate.
What’s a Twidoodle, let alone a Twidoodle Party?
Well we’re not sure really, but we want YOU to join us. We’re thinking some tweeting and a bit of doodling on the backs of envelopes in between swigs of tea or wine. And chocolate. Always chocolate.
Mums from all over the world join our community at story of mum - having a go at the quirky creative tasks alone. That is of course great, but we also wondered if there was a way for us all to connect and create at the same time...
In Penzance and Milton Keynes, occasionally elsewhere in Cornwall (and maybe one day in Bath c/o @LadyCurd, woop woop) mums come together face to face to chat and do something creative for story of mum over a bottle of wine or a cuppa. So - can we recreate that on twitter…?
Well, we held our first twitter party to celebrate our birthday last month, and it was brilliant fun. We even came up with words for our mums’ poem together. The party-mums were keen to give a regular group a go. (Mind you, that was at the end of the party, and most of them were a bit worse for wear from the virtual bubbly. Still, if no one turns up to chat, me and my mum will have more time to doodle. Win win.)
So, we will be chatting. And we will be doodling in between the chatter. Attempting a new story of mum activity called Noodle Doodle with the help of lovely doodlefan Steppydoodle. Don’t panic. You do not have to be good at drawing, or thinking, or writing, or indeed anything at all in order to take part in this doodling activity. You don’t even have to show us what you doodle if you don’t want to. That’s completely fine. We would just love you to come and play.
Great! How can I join in?
Jump on twitter between 8.30 and 9.30pm BST adding the #somum hashtag to your tweets. We’ll ask some questions and explain the plan (as hopefully we’ll have one by then…) If you don't know anything about twitter, have a read of this - you'll need to join twitter, but that's easy.
All you need to bring is you. If you prepared a labour bag months in advance of your children’s birth, then feel free to bag up a felt tip or well-chewed biro, a bit of paper, a camera that you can use to upload a pic to twitter, and whatever alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverage and delicious refreshment you would normally select for a party. If you don’t have any of that stuff, don’t worry – just turn up.
Did I hear something about CHOCOLATE?
Well yes you did! Our lovely friends at Raw Choc Pie have generously offered to give us some of their absolutely delicious chocolate. I should warn you: it is highly addictive. It is also apparently low in fat, low in calories, sugar, dairy and gluten free. Which I find hard to believe because it tastes bad for you, in a good way.
All you have to do for a chance to win some free chocolate is to upload your doodle here on or before 9 May - we'll have a lucky dip to see who gets what - winning a prize is based in no way on your artistic skills so don't worry.
Top prize is a pack of TEN bars, of every type of chocolate they offer - from Naked Pie through Nut Pie to Pink Himalayan Salt Pie. After that, we have four three-packs, and then, six single bars to give away. So that's eleven chocolate prizes, meaning you have a very good chance of winning and eating some.
So get doodling, and good luck.
Our twidoodleparty might work, it might be a disaster – but it will definitely be fun, and it’s always good to try something that no-one else has done before (even if there might be a very good reason for that…).
We’re really looking forward to doodling with you.
